March For The Beagles
Hundreds of people, some with Beagles and other dogs gathered at Pearsons Park at 12 noon last Saturday. The diary of Michelle Rokke was beautifully read by Jasmin explaining what Michelle witnessed during her undercover work at Huntington Life Sciences animal testing laboratory. Followed by Jasmin was one of the locals to Grimston who spoke out:
"We have not missed any possible opportunity over the last 5 years at objecting to B&K's planning application to expand their facility to breed and house 2000 beagles and thousands of other sentient animals for experiments. The Local residents of Grimston have put their lives on hold, spent hundreds of thousands of pounds opposing this application, along with MPs, scientists, doctors, councillors, celebrities, planning inspectors and an online petition with over 630k signatures.
All this opposition by the majority! for one man - the communities secretary Greg Clark - who's clearly been influenced by the minority few and their financial interests, and unbelievably supported their lies and decided to overrule the majority, how can this be?"
The march ended at Queens Gardens with speeches from Speaking of Human Based Research and Animal Aid who informed the public on what happens to Beagles/animals in laboratories, and why the leading medical expert scientists with MPs are calling for a science debate/hearing via Early Day Motion (EDM 400), to hear scientific evidence in public that experimenting on Beagles and other animals also fails patients. Over 8 thousand leaflets produced by For Life On Earth were given out during the day with details of how people can help by asking their MPs to sign EDM 400.
